Collegiate Church of San Miguel Aguilar de Campoo
The Collegiate Church of San Miguel in Aguilar de Campoo has Visigothic origins but was rebuilt in the 11th century and later in the Gothic style. The main entrance is Romanesque, and the tower dates back to the late 16th century. Inside, the baptismal chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist stands out. Located in the Plaza de España in Aguilar de Campoo, it is a central spot within the town. It was designated as a Collegiate Church in 1541 by Pope Paul III. In October 2019, it was declared a BIC (Bien de Interés Cultural - Asset of Cultural Interest) and categorized as a monument. Inside the Collegiate Church, you can observe the main altarpiece of Saint Michael, which has been fully restored due to damage caused by wood-boring pests, color loss, stains, and lifting varnish. It was the venue for the "Edades del Hombre" in 2018, where it hosted a large exhibition of sacred art.
