Saint Cornelius and Saint Cyprian
San Cornelio and San Cipriano. The Church of San Cornelio and San Cipriano is located in Revilla de Santullán, 2 kilometers south of Barruelo de Santullán. It is a building dating from the late 12th century that consists of a single nave and a semicircular apse. What stands out in this ensemble is its Romanesque portal located on the south wall, guarded by a portico. The portal is crafted with great skill and features an exceptional sculptural program.
On one of its archivolts, the scene of the Last Supper is depicted, with the figure of Christ in the center surrounded by the apostles. At one end, the signature of the sculptor who carved the portal appears, in the form of a figure along with his work tools. Its capitals boast rich iconography and are of great artistic quality, featuring scenes of knightly battles, Samson with the lion, the three Marys at the tomb, figures of harpies, griffins, dragons, and more.
