Mining Museum in Barruelo de Santullán, the memory of Palencia's coal.
Mining Museum in Barruelo de Santullán. The Mining Museum of Barruelo de Santullán is located in the old National Schools. This project, carried out by the Town Hall, aims to showcase the significance of mining in the locality, a town closely linked to this mineral. The Museum is displayed in nine rooms spread over three floors, detailing the history of coal. It covers aspects of geology and minerals, the process of mineral extraction. All of this is explained through simple interactive panels and models that reproduce the interior of a mine. An old miner, dressed in the gear worn by the last miners before the mine closed, also provides insights. The museum also showcases the working conditions endured by the miners. The Mining Museum offers an educational journey through the world of mining. Particularly noteworthy is that the Museum is complemented by a visit to a reproduced mine, a copy of an original and completely safe for visitors, which allows us to get a general idea of the mine's conditions. Very close to Aguilar de Campoo.
