Castle of Aguilar de Campoo. Overlooking everything, the Castle of the Counts of Aguilar is located in the same town of Aguilar de Campoo. Perched on a rocky outcrop, this castle was built in the 12th century. Initially, it was linked to the Manrique de Lara family, Counts of Aguilar. It is especially relevant to mention that of the fortification, only its walls remain, which date back to the 14th and 15th centuries. It has a trapezoidal layout with towers at the corners of its walls and in the center of the southern wall. Additionally, in 1986, a restoration of the complex was carried out, during which remains of an original tower of the castle were found. Finally, a cistern was also discovered inside the enclosure.
