Compuerto Reservoir, next to Velilla del Río Carrión

The Compuerto Reservoir is located in the municipal area of Velilla del Río Carrión and holds 95 million cubic meters of water. Its construction was completed in 1960 and it belongs to the so-called Carrión system. It is the starting point of the Route of the Reservoirs. The first town you encounter after passing the dam is Otero de Guardo. This route is visited by thousands of tourists each year due to the fantastic landscapes offered by the Palencia Mountain in this area.
