La Reana, a surprising fountain
La Reana. In Velilla del Río Carrión, next to the 13th-century hermitage of San Juan, we find one of the Tamáricas Springs, better known as La Reana. The date of its construction is unknown. However, we do know of its existence in 19 B.C., when the Romans conquered Cantabria. It is a small rectangular pool with three stone arches. It has a unique feature: it fills and empties with water without any explanation, at any time of the year and under any weather conditions.
