Guantes Cave Site
Cueva de Guantes Archaeological Site. Near Villanueva de Arriba, in the municipality of Santibañez de la Peña, this site is located inside the Cueva de Guantes, also known as La Cuevona, and within a karst complex that offers several excavation chambers. Human presence has been detected, although no human remains have been found. Additionally, remains of Pleistocene animals such as bears, hyenas, and rhinoceroses have been discovered and classified. It is one of the few caves in the area that has different entry and exit points, as most caves in the region are sack-shaped with the same access point for both entry and exit.
