Villafría Huts

Chozos de Villafría. Located near Villafría de la Peña, 110 kilometers from the capital of Palencia. Carlos and Jesús, two retirees with construction knowledge, have altruistically created this small complex of curious constructions without any profit motive; it has been created solely for the enjoyment of visitors. They began by building a picnic area in 1996 with tables and chairs. Later, they added a viewpoint with a telescope, a shepherd's hut, two stone benches, two wooden benches, a wooden granary, a shelter cabin, a shoeing frame for animals, a treehouse, a forge, a bakery, a forge... and they continue to build structures that delight children. The entire route is adorned with wooden rabbits, bears, deer, and wild boars. A visit has become a must for travelers to the Montaña Palentina. Spectacular views of the Sierra del Brezo and the La Peña plateau.
